Between the humidity, the afternoon storms and the sun that never quite dries out a shaded corner, organic growth takes hold on almost every outdoor surface here. A paver field is only as flat as the base under it. What is the difference between pressure washing and soft washing?
Pressure washing uses water force to break growth loose. It works well on hard, durable, non-coated surfaces like concrete driveways, paver fields, and unsealed patios, where the surface can take the energy. We run a rotating surface cleaner on flat work so the pressure is spread evenly across a spinning bar instead of concentrated in one point.
Soft washing uses very low pressure, roughly the force of a garden hose, and does the work chemically instead. A cleaning solution is applied, allowed to dwell so it kills the growth at the root, then rinsed. This is the only correct method for roofs, screen enclosures, painted surfaces, stucco and anything fragile.
The rule we work by is simple. If pressure can damage it, we do not use pressure. Roof tile, shingles, screen mesh, soffit and paint all fall on the soft wash side. A concrete driveway does not.
Wet look or natural finish for a Sarasota driveway
This is the single most common question we get, and there is no universally right answer. A wet look sealer brings the color up hard and makes a driveway read as freshly done from the street. Can pressure washing damage my driveway or pavers?
Yes, and we see the results of it regularly. On stamped or decorative concrete, high pressure lifts the color layer. On older concrete it exposes aggregate and leaves a rough, chalky surface.
